As event planners, one of our main duties is staying up-to-date on all of the latest fads to make sure your event is just as trendy as it is successful! It's important to refresh your ideas and get familiar with what's up and coming. I mean, you wouldn't want something that is SO 1999 at your next corporate event...would you?!
Obviously, this isn't a new trend. But, it certainly is an important one! Presenting your brand in innovative ways is such an easy, yet overlooked, way to really "wow" your guests. Why create a banner when you can have an ice sculpture? Everything should have your brand on it: napkins with your company motto, decor with your signature colors, even desserts with your logo on them! Your event is basically a brand experience, so people should be able to easily tell they're at your event and not a generic party.
2) Food Trucks
Food trucks are super trendy right now. Don't settle for a standard buffet with standard eats- one up your event but having a food truck cater! You're guaranteed to have some of your city's favorite food all while supporting local businesses. (If you're planning a corporate event in Austin, check out one of our previous blog posts about local food trucks that cater!)
Creating a hashtag for your event is a super easy and fun way to keep your guests interacting. You're able to group all of your photos or tweets together by using a hashtag- creating an everlasting event in cyberspace! Be sure to do your research before hand so you're not sharing a hashtag with another event.
4) Go Green
Succulents and wildflowers can be used as a more sustainable option than typical floral arrangements. (They're equally as beautiful too!) That's not the only way you can make your event "green." One of the most simple tips to be more sustainable is to be waste conscious. Ensure that recycling and compost bins are accessible and clearly labeled. Check out this Green Event Planning Guide for more advice on how to make your event more sustainable.
People love free stuff! You want to fill the bag with items that people won't throw away right when they get home, but you also don't want to break the bank. Be cautious of the items you're choosing! If people are traveling out of town you don't want to give them gifts that are too big or won't pass through airport security.
We live in a digital age, and Facebook Live, Periscope and other livestream apps are the future of content. This is a powerful (and free) way for companies to promote their more relatable side and an even better way for event planners to get their name out there. While we know everyone is here to have fun, be aware of your social media presence! You wouldn't want a video of an employee or guest that had one too many represent your brand on social media.
Don't let anyone tell you that themed events are out of style! A theme can significantly enhance your guests' experience at your event, and can add an extra element that helps you stand out from a competitor's event. From circus themes to Great Gatsby, there's a theme for everyone's liking!
